The Star

If something could be said to inspire and encourage you
It would be that although life can be difficult, you will make it through
Occasionally, mistakes and other obstacles will block your path along the way
You may have a brief detour but from the right road never stray

You will not be told to reach for the stars but that you are a star. It is your birthright
Within you is the ability to rise up and shine as brightly as anyone else, regardless of your current plight
Define your vision, write down your goals, map your course and take action
Eventually, hard work and diligence will bring career success and satisfaction

It also helps to believe in yourself and to have faith in God or the higher power you ascribe to
For when you hit a low point, your faith will restore your spirit and give you
purpose and direction anew
A word of caution… always choose your friends very carefully
They can bring problems into your life as easily as an enemy

While you are concentrating on achieving your particular goal,
Remember to also take good care of you… mind, body and soul
Although a great professional career will promote financial stability,
Good health can’t be bought even if you are wealthy

Know your strengths but work to strengthen your weaknesses, too
Know your worth for then you will know who is worthy of you
This is your life… of your future you are the star
You will go places… you determine where and how far

Miranda, My Baby!

So very caring, thoughtful and protective of others
She loves children and her maternal instincts abound
My daughter, Miranda, is also my best friend
There to share happy moments or sad times, she’s always around

When I’m not feeling well, she gets to see my less flattering side
Yet, she is so forgiving and like my own little nurse, she is still there for me
Allowing me to sleep with her stuffed animal, Hippie, sharing her
Nintendo DS
Bringing my medications and fixing me a hot cup of green tea

My baby has blossomed into a beautiful, mature young lady
She’s intelligent, tall, outgoing, witty, and curious about how
things work, how things are made
Selfless, she saved her money to buy me a necklace of which she’s
very proud
The future forensic detective will have a wing for dear old Mom in
her house because her love for me will never fade

But until I become ‘old’ and she becomes the extraordinary woman
she is destined to be
I’m loving watching her sleep while her long eye lashes rest on her
rosy cheeks… loving things as they are
From admiring what has to be the prettiest head of hair to watching
her sing and dance
I’m just enjoying life with my princess, my baby, my Miranda who
loves McDonald’s and thinks she’s a rock star!

Ebony… Diva Rising

An inquisitive, smart little miss who is sometimes shy
Don’t let her bright smile fool you… she’s been known to give bossiness a try
Ebony loves to read but struggles with math (she’s probably in good company)
She has no desire to be in front of an audience though she sings privately

Whether riding her bike or scooter or jumping rope, this girl loves playing outside
For her new nephew and papa Bear (her stuffed animal) she has lots of love and pride
Popsicles, vegetables and Burger King meals are some of her favorite food
A budding fashionista, she’s already developing her own style and divatude

All eyes are on this enchanting rising diva in her favorite colors, purple and pink
Ebony likes to save her money while spending some else’s. Brilliant, don’t you think?
Petite, fun and full of energy, she’ll have you wrapped around her finger in no time flat
That’s our Ebony. What parent wouldn’t adore a little girl like that?

It’s amazing that you’re so young but you have such a strong personality
Certainly, your dazzling smile is not the only bright thing we see
In the future, others will be sure to follow as you blaze a trail
For now, just be the beautiful girl who is loved by all who know her without
condition and without fail
